Analytics Fire joins forces with R-Zero to make the indoor spaces we share safer, healthier, and more productive.
Today we announced the exciting news that Analytics Fire has been acquired by R-Zero, the leading biosafety technology platform for healthy buildings.
Eight years ago, Dan and I saw an opportunity to combine IoT, Analytics, and Machine Learning technology to build a more sustainable future. So we founded Analytics Fire – and in the process built the engineering organization that we always dreamed of working for. Since then, with a team of 40+ engineers, we’ve automated over $3 billion in clean energy assets. We have code running on hundreds of thousands of devices, and solutions that monitor and control millions of them. We’ve helped guide fully autonomous robotic systems to market. By partnering with world-class hardware device manufacturers, we’ve helped make clean energy a more compelling energy choice for many, and made a small contribution to revolutionizing power generation on a global scale.
And we’ve done it all as a small tight-knit team working together remotely from day one. I’m proud to say that we were “working from anywhere” long before it went mainstream – deploying releases from coffee shops in San Francisco, ski resorts in Colorado, and surf beaches in Mexico. It’s been a great joy to see team members use that flexibility over the years to do everything from spend more time with their kids, live a healthier lifestyle, to working while touring the world with Grammy winning musicians. And since we were fortunate enough in our success as a small company to be able to fly the whole team and plus ones together to week-long summit events in places like Barcelona, Prague, Singapore, and Krakow, we’ve also gotten to know each other – and each other’s families – personally over the years.
When the COVID pandemic happened, our remote-first approach meant that our day-to-day operations weren’t interrupted. (To be frank, we were lucky in this way.) However, the health of those closest to us was put directly in the line of fire. We lost friends, families, and members of our communities to COVID. Like everyone else, we wished we could do something to help fight back against COVID. To make people safe again. To bring families, friends, and communities (and even coworkers!) back together in person after the lockdown.
So when an unexpected opportunity presented itself to join forces with R-Zero, and help build an entirely new category of biosafety technology to make the indoor spaces we share safer, healthier, and more productive – it felt like fate. So while I’m sad to say that we are shutting down our clean energy focused business, I’m excited to announce that we will be transitioning to 100% focus on leading the development of a new continuous, autonomous disinfection platform, and an ecosystem of connected device products for R-Zero.
My deepest hope in writing this is that one day you, dear reader and your family will personally be made safer by being inside a building that has cleaner air and surfaces because of R-Zero hardware powered by code written by this team.
To the community of Analytics Fire customers: Thank you so much for the opportunity to be part of your story, and for your faith and trust in us over the years to be good partners and get the job done. We won’t be able to continue with you. But we hope that we’ve left you in a better position. It has been an honor to contribute to your missions to make the world a greener place.
To the families of the Analytics Fire team: Thank you for letting us be part of your family history. Thank you for the faith in the Analytics Fire team and dream.
To the Analytics Fire team: Thank you for your intelligence, creativity, kindness, and sense of humor. Thank you for your hard work and grit. Sometimes life is about waking up every morning and grinding hard to keep moving the needle forward a little bit every day. Sometimes life is about making one big giant leap into the unknown. In both cases, it’s just as much about what you are trying to do as it is about who you are doing it with. Thank you for going on this quest with us. Let’s keep slaying dragons. Happy hacking.
